Nevill Holt opera is thrilled to announce that planning consent has been granted for a new theatre at Nevill Holt Opera. Opening in 2018, our new Theatre will provide an outstanding, beautiful and permanent home for NHO, and breathe new life into this historic building.
We will create the country's most unique and intimate Opera Theatre, in a setting of outstanding beauty.
Our 2017 Festival will continue as usual, in Temporary Theatre on the estate. Audiences will enjoy panoramic views, landscaped gardens and an outstanding collection of modern British sculpture.
Situated in our Grade II* listed Stable Block courtyard, this landmark project is designed by Stirling Prize winning architects Witherford Watson Mann, working with acoustic and theatre design experts Sound Space Vision.
Artistic Director Nicholas Chalmers said, 'For four years, Nevill Holt Opera has been staging the highest quality productions in its intimate stable-yard theatre. The prospect of a new opera house to support this excellent work is such an exciting development, and will help promote the East Midlands as a destination for the Arts.'
General Manager Rosenna East said, 'We are sincerely grateful to all those who have helped us reach this landmark moment for NHO. We thank the whole project team, who have worked so hard, as well as all of our friends and neighbours for their support, and of course the David Ross Foundation. We cannot wait to welcome you all to the new Theatre.'
